Sacred Land Since 1840

LIST OF INSCRIPTIONS

The following individuals had marble headstones marking their graves.

  • WILLIE, Son of Alfred & Fanny CURRY (Age 4)

  • Geo H. Bunn (Age 17)

  • ALFRED E. BUNN (Age 3)

  • JAMES BUNN (Age 53)

  • Original Stone Wall from Burial Ground

    NOTE ON NOMENCLATURE

The entries in the column labelled 'Race' in the below table are the terms 19th Century Municipal Records personnel utilized. We have kept the documentation for consistency. Additionally, many of the Native American names have been anglicized, e.g., Bunn.

Please note, the table below is a partial list of interred as New York State mandated local governments maintain death records beginning in 1880. We hope to be able to conduct more research to record the names of the others interred at this burial ground so that their deaths, and therefore lives, may not only be recorded, but that their descendants may know where their ancestors were put to rest.

    SPECIAL THANK YOU

We want to extend a special note of gratitude to Rudy Hartmann. He, through a grant from Professor Johnathan Thayer's Queens College History Course, meticulously waded through New York City and Queens County municpal records to document the names listed here. You may also download the spreadsheet of his research here.
